This module introduces new operators to the core safety concepts that form the foundation of responsible fieldwork. It begins with the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring operators understand what gear is required, how to wear it correctly, and why it is essential for minimizing risk. The training then emphasizes situational awareness, teaching operators to remain alert to their surroundings, identify potential hazards, and anticipate changes in operating conditions. Participants will also learn about the importance of permits and how they govern specific tasks such as hot work, confined space entry, or equipment maintenance, reinforcing the need to follow established procedures. The module covers Job Safety Analysis (JSA) as a structured tool for evaluating risks before beginning any activity, encouraging operators to think critically about each step of the job. Finally, the training provides an introduction to emergency response basics, including how to react to spills, fires, or medical incidents, and the importance of clear communication during emergencies. By mastering these fundamentals, operators build a strong safety mindset that supports both personal protection and the overall integrity of field operations.
