03. Wellsite Equipment 101
About Course
This module provides operators with a foundational overview of the key pieces of equipment found on a typical wellsite pad and how they function together as an integrated system. Beginning with the wellhead, operators will learn how it serves as the primary control point for the well, regulating flow and providing access for monitoring and intervention. The training then explores separators, which are used to split production streams into oil, gas, and water, ensuring that each phase can be handled safely and efficiently. Tanks are introduced as storage units for fluids, highlighting their role in inventory management and environmental protection. Operators will also gain familiarity with meters, which measure flow rates and volumes to provide critical data for production tracking and regulatory reporting. Finally, the module covers valves, explaining how they control flow, isolate equipment, and maintain safety across the system. By understanding how these components interact—wellheads feeding separators, separators directing fluids to tanks, meters tracking volumes, and valves regulating movement—operators develop a clear picture of how the pad operates as a coordinated whole. This knowledge equips them to monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safe, efficient production in the field.
